How this calculator works
- Tax: new regime for FY 2026-27: ₹75,000 standard deduction, no tax up to ₹12 lakh of taxable income (section 87A rebate, with marginal relief), slabs from 5% to 30%, surcharge above ₹50 lakh and 4% cess.
- Fixed pay: employer PF and gratuity are taken out of the CTC when you tick those boxes, because they don't reach your bank account each month.
- Bonuses and stock are taxed as salary in the year you receive them. RSUs are taxed when they vest, at their value then, which is how most Indian employers treat them.
- Take-home includes vested stock at today's value. If the share price moves, the real value moves with it.
Questions people ask
Why does a higher CTC sometimes give less in-hand?
CTC includes things you don't get each month: employer PF, gratuity, variable pay that may pay out below target, and joining bonuses that only come once. Stock looks large but vests over years, often back-loaded.
What is a back-loaded vesting schedule?
Some companies vest stock unevenly, for example 5% in year one, 15% in year two and 40% in each of the last two years. The grant looks the same on paper, but much less of it arrives early.
Is the old tax regime supported?
Not yet. Most salaried people with few deductions pay less under the new regime, which is also the default. If you claim large deductions such as HRA and home-loan interest, check the old regime separately.
Is my salary data stored?
No. The calculation runs in your browser. The shareable link keeps your numbers in the part of the address after the #, which browsers never send to a server.
